PORT ANGELES — A church and the Elks Lodge are among public places airing the Seahawks playoff game with the Atlanta Falcons today.

The Lighthouse Christian Center at 304 E. Viewcrest Ave. is planning a viewing party for the NFC divisional playoff game.

It is to start at 10 a.m. immediately after the center’s 9 a.m. Sunday service, lead pastor Jason Noble said Saturday.

The celebration will feature the game, which is being played in Atlanta, on the church’s big-screen TV monitors, with free food and drinks donated by church volunteers.

“We have one couple who said they were buying about 30 pizzas,” Noble said.

Noble said church staff came up with idea after the Seahawks won last Sunday’s game and later got positive feedback about the viewing party from the church’s Facebook page.

The church also will be giving away two 32-inch TVs via raffle and other prizes at halftime, Noble said, with sign-ups for the raffle available only via service attendance.

“Everyone [who] is at the 9 a.m. service can enter and be eligible to win,” Noble said.

Some churches in the Seattle area are changing their schedule of Sunday services so Seahawks fans can stay home and watch the playoff matchup, according to a Seattle Times report.

Elks screening

Additionally, Elks Naval Lodge No. 353 will hold a “membership drive and pancake breakfast” from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. today while screening the game.

Pancakes, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns will be served in the Elks second-floor lounge.

The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children.
