“We are close to $833,000 — but we’re not there yet,” she said Friday.
Reservations are due by Tuesday, Feb. 25, for the United Way’s annual celebration of its fundraising campaign Friday, March 1.
More than 100 volunteers and thousands of donors will be honored, and the amount of money raised so far during the 2012 fundraising campaign will be announced during the annual awards dinner at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
The dinner will begin with a 5:30 p.m. social hour followed by dinner at
6:30 p.m. in the ballroom at the hotel.
Tickets are $25 per person, and reservations are necessary.
The 2011 campaign raised $883,458. The 2012 campaign goal was $1,060,000 in honor of the organization’s 60th anniversary.
While final figures won’t be announced until March 31, the campaign chairwoman, Mary Ann Unger, will announce March 1 the outcome so far of this year’s efforts, Moss said, adding that she did not want to reveal the exact amount raised so far.
Contributions toward the campaign received before March 31 will be included in the campaign’s final total, Moss said.
Donations will be distributed each month throughout 2013 to 25 nonprofits in Clallam County as well as to United Way’s four community solutions programs: Access to Health Care, Access to Help/211, the Clallam County Literacy Council and the new Great Beginnings Early Learning Initiative.
“It seemed like it was going to be a horribly difficult year this year, but overall things are picking up,” Moss said. “Given how challenged everybody is, the community is rallying” to support United Way and give locally.
“During the most challenging fundraising period in memory, Clallam County community members have again shown their commitment towards community to strengthen our critical safety net and to advance the common good by investing in the education, income and health of our community members,” Moss said.
The dinner is open to campaign volunteers, donors, United Way partner agencies and their volunteers and any others who are interested.
Reservations can be made by phoning the United Way office at 360-457-3011 or emailing to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The office is at 102½ E. First St., No. 3, Port Angeles.
