FORTY YEARS LATER, Vietnam POWs get together for a Memorial Day weekend reunion in California . . .

This March 17, 1973, photo shows released prisoner of war Lt. Col. Robert L. Stirm being greeted by his family at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Calif.

Taken by AP photographer Sal Veder, it won the Pulitzer Prize for News Photography in 1973.
