SPORTS: Port Angeles Swim Club claims third place

MOSES LAKE — Swimmers from the Port Angeles Swim Club continue to have a strong summer season after breaking 13 club records this past weekend.

Port Angeles captured third place at the prestigious Sizzlin’ Summer Invitational swim meet against teams from Washington and Canada.

There were a total of 400 swimmers at the meet.

Port Angeles Swim Club claimed third place in overall points.

Jaine Macias, 14 years old, broke four Port Angeles club records while becoming the high-point winner for the 13-14 girls category.

She captured two third places, two fourth places, one fifth place and two sixth places.

Others breaking Port Angeles club records were John Macias, Tracie Macias, Tristin Butler and Sierra Hunter.

John Macias, 16 years old, set three club marks while Butler, 14, broke four club records, Tracie Macias, 17, broke one, and Hunter, 12, set three new club marks.

Tracie Macias won the 100-meter butterfly championship and claimed third place in the 100-meter backstroke, while Jaine Macias took third place in the 200 individual medley.

Butler captured second in the 100 freestyle and third in the 200 free.

John Macias, meanwhile, claimed third place in the 100 backstroke.

In addition, Kenzie Johnson, 11, captured third place in the 200 freestyle, while Milo Atwater, 13, was second in 400 freestyle, and Will Roening, 8, took third place in the 50 fly.

Port Angeles Swim Club head coach Jessica Johnson said she was extremely pleased with the team’s performance.

The next stop for the swim club is the championship meet scheduled for this weekend.

The championships will conclude the long-course season.
