The city issued a detour map showing vehicular traffic from the major artery (and unofficial U.S. 101 alternate route) detoured along Eunice Street to Eighth Street. Pedestrian traffic also is detoured — to Eighth Street or Park Avenue.
Stop signs will stop traffic on Race Street/Mount Angeles Road at Park Avenue, near the Olympic National Park Visitor Center. Race/Mount Angeles is the route to Olympic National Park's Hurricane Ridge recreation area.
Here is the official city news release:
The Lauridsen Boulevard Bridge will close permanently sometime after 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013, to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Detours will be in place surrounding the bridge area.

City staff will continue to evaluate detour routes and consider changes to improve traffic flow.
A temporary 4-way stop, with advanced rumble strips, will be in place at the intersection of Race [and Mount Angeles Road] and Park Avenue.
The City is replacing the aging Lauridsen Blvd Bridge (built in 1969) with a single span concrete structure. The new bridge will enhance pedestrian facilities with widened sidewalks, extend bicycle lanes across the bridge and improved turning radii at the intersection. The new bridge will look very similar to the style of the 8th Street Bridges.
Please consider alternate routes and allow extra time to travel. Safety of the public, pedestrians and motorists is a top priority and traffic will be monitored during the project. Please drive courteously, obey all traffic signs and posted speed limits.
