QUILCENE — A Quilcene man was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center on Saturday after his off-road motorcycle hit a fire hydrant.

William M. Clark, 35, was riding north on private property in Quilcene at about 1:50 a.m. Saturday when he drove onto East Columbia Street off U.S. Highway 101, according to the State Patrol.

Clark crossed Highway 101 and continued on West Columbia Street when his motorcycle left the pavement and hit a fire hydrant, the State Patrol said.

He was airlifted to Harborview in Seattle.

No one else was involved in the wreck.

The State Patrol is investigating the cause. The agency said drugs or alcohol is suspected to have contributed to the crash.

Clark was not wearing a helmet, the State Patrol said.
