PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man is listed in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle tonight (Friday) and his passenger is in satisfactory condition at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles after a two-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near O’Brien Road.

David C. Furgeson, 82, and his passenger, Onalee M. Furgeson, 77, of Port Angeles, were headed east on Highway 101 at about 8 a.m. in a 2004 Toyota Camry.

As the Toyota neared O’Brien Road, it was struck by a black 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara sport utility vehicle driven by Larissa M. Martin, 27, of Port Angeles, the State Patrol said.

Troopers said that Martin was trying to cross Highway 101 from Old Olympic Highway to O’Brien Road when her SUV hit the Toyota.

Both Furgesons were taken to Olympic Medical Center by ambulance. David Furgeson later was airlifted to Harborview.

Martin was treated at the scene, the State Patrol said.

The State Patrol listed the cause as the SUV failing to yield to the Toyota, adding that charges are pending.

The collision blocked the eastbound lanes of Highway 101 at O’Brien Road for about an hour, according to the state Department of Transportation.
