PORT ANGELES –– The Lower Elwha Klallam tribe has reopened its accounting office after shutting it down for an undisclosed “situation.”

Tribal officials in a statement released Friday said the office at 2851 Lower Elwha Road had been closed temporarily.

The statement did not disclose any further details “due to the confidential nature of this situation.”

Tribal Chairwoman Frances Charles directed questions to the tribe’s general counsel, Steve Suagee. Suagee said he had no comment beyond the statement
