TAHOLAH — A woman from Beaver was in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday after she was hurt in single-car wreck on U.S. Highway 101 near Lake Quinault.

Diane C. Bos, 47, was a passenger in a 1994 brown Ford Taurus driven by Leonal E. Chase, 32, also a Beaver resident, that was heading north on Highway 101 just south of Lake Quinault at about 12:11 a.m. Wednesday, the State Patrol said.

According to the State Patrol, the Ford left the road to the east and struck a large tree stump after Chase fell asleep at the wheel.

In stable condition

Chase was in stable condition at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen on Wednesday, according to a hospital representative, after he was taken there following the wreck.

Trooper Russ Winger, State Patrol spokesman, said Chase likely will be cited for second-degree negligent driving.

Bos was first taken to the Grays Harbor hospital before she was transferred to Harborview, where her condition was reported as satisfactory.

The Ford was destroyed, the State Patrol said.

Both Chase and Bos were wearing their seat belts, according to the State Patrol.
