PORT ANGELES — An interim principal has been named for Port Angeles High School after Principal Garry Cameron announced he is leaving Friday for a new job.

Cameron, who served in his position since 2009, has resigned to work as principal of Upland High School in San Bernardino County, Calif.

He accepted the position Wednesday night. His last day in Port Angeles is Friday.

“We wish him all the very best and will miss his leadership in the district,” Superintendent Jane Pryne said.

Pryne has named Assistant Principal Jeff Clark as interim principal. He will begin work Monday.

The School Board is expected to act on his appointment at its June 26 meeting, set for 7 p.m. at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, 905 W. Ninth St.

“We wish Jeff all the very best as well and have every confidence he will successfully lead the high school,” Pryne said.

In addition to his role as high school assistant principal, Clark previously served as district director of information technology and athletic and activities director.

Before joining the district in July 2005, Clark was principal at Taholah School in Taholah.

Clark received his bachelor's in liberal arts from The Evergreen State College and a bachelor's in English with a minor in education from Western Washington University.

He received his master's in education in school administration and completed requirements for principal and administrator certification from Western Washington University.
